What is your process for potty training?
This must be a team process. We feel for this to be successful we must be doing the same things at home and school. Below is the schedule that we recommend. We ask that on the weekends you please try to mirror this process.
Basic Beginner Potty Schedule:
Wake up immediately go to the potty.
Put on Big girl/boy underwear
Before leaving the house, go to the potty
When arriving at the destination (attempt to use the potty)
At school we will send Potty training children to the potty @ 8:30 am; 10:30am; Right before nap; 2:30am (or as soon as they wake up) & 4:30pm. Asking in between scheduled times if they did not actually potty at the scheduled time.
Use the potty before you leave your destination
Use the potty when you return home
Limit evening liquids
Use the potty after dinner
Use the potty immediately before bed. *At this point you would put on your optional night time pull up
We know that this process is time-consuming. It takes a lot of work. Some children get this process immediately and the schedule can loosen as they are having more success and are able to vocalize their potty needs.
Things to remember:
Dress your child in clothes that easily pull up and down: No overalls or belts
Underwear all day and every day
Take home soiled clothes daily
